Nghe An expects to welcome over 5 million tourists in 2020

Nghe An province aims to become one of the largest tourism centres in the north-central region by 2030.

This was announced by Nguyen Manh Cuong, Director of the provincial Department of Tourism at the workshop in Cua Lo township on May 16.

Nghe An tourism will build brand names for local tourism products and seek to draw investment projects in resort and ecological tourism development while connecting with the chain of products in the north-central and north-south central regions and other tourism centres at home and abroad, to realise this goal, Cuong added.
By 2020, Nghe An expects to lure over 5 million tourists, including 170,000 foreigners and gross VND10 trillion (US$440.5 million) in revenues, contributing 5 - 6% to the province’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) and creating jobs for over 30,000 workers. The tourism industry is hoped to become a spearhead economy of the province by 2030 with revenues contributing 9-10% to the GRDP, according to Director of the provincial Department of Tourism.
At the workshop, many participants suggested Nghe An province encourage domestic and foreign businesses and economic sectors to invest in tourism infrastructure and human resources training, that to held the province fully tap its tourism potential.
Nghe An province has a coastline of 82km with stunning beaches and more than 2,600 historical relic sites and natural landscapes. It is also home to six ethnic groups with unique cultures.
Situated in Nghe An Province, Cua Lo Beach is among the most beautiful beaches in the northern region of Vietnam. Cua Lo town has over 300 guesthouses and hotels, with more than 11,000 rooms capable of serving over 20,000 overnight visitors.
In 2018, Cua Lo town targets to welcome over 2.7 million visitors, up 10% compared to 2017 and revenue from tourism services to reach VND2.7 trillion (US$118,8 million), up 18% annually, according to Nghe An Department of Tourism.
