Hanoi People`s Council opened the 12th session (extraordinary session) to elect the Chairman of the municipal People`s Council.
Attending the sitting were Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Nguyen The Thao, Deputy Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang.
According to the result of the vote, Vice Chairwoman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc has been elected President of the 14th municipal People's Council (2011-2016 tenure) with votes reaching 90.21% compared with the total number of deputies.
The People's Council also voted to adopt the Resolution recognizing the results of the vote counting.
The deputies also voted to approve the report, and the Resolution dismissing Vice Chairwoman of municipal People's Committee Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc.
Speaking at the sitting, the new President of Hanoi People's Council Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc expressed the heartfelt and deepest thanks on the credibility of the People's Council deputies.
She also stressed that being the newly-elected President is not only great honor, but is also a challenge and heavy responsibility. Therefore, the President wished to get more supports from deputies on her new position.
President Ngoc promised to inherit and promote experiences of the previous leaders, and fulfill every tasks, being worthy of the trust of the Party, Government, voters and city peole.
