Nha Trang City hosts Robocon Vietnam finale

Thirty-two outstanding teams, chosen from 161 nationwide, will compete in the final round of the Robocon Vietnam 2014, from May 6-11.

Organisers, Vietnam Television and Toyota Vietnam Company announced at a press conference in Hanoi on May 5 that the winners will go on to represent Vietnam at the Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon) in India in August.

This year’s theme “Robot family” emphasizes the role parents play in bringing up children to become good citizens.

Participating teams will design a robot–based family, including a robot parent (controlled by hands) and robot children (controlled automatically).

The winner will get VND50 million in cash while two runners-up will receive VND30 million and VND20 million, respectively.

A Robocon Techshow 2014 will also be held during the competition to encourage students to research and design high-tech products which can be applied in daily life.

Vietnam has so far championed the ABU Robocon three times in 2002, 2004 and 2006.
