Transport Ministry held a ceremony in Bac Giang city on January 3 to open to traffic the upgrade works of National Road 1A from Hanoi to Bac Giang province.
The stretch was built under the BOT (build-operate-transfer) model with the total investment of more than 4,213 billion VND. It forms part of the Ha Noi-Lang Son Expressway project which was launched on February 20, 2014 and is scheduled to complete in 2017.
The road meets expressway standards and allows a maximum speed limit of 100km per hour, including four motor lanes and two lanes for emergency stop.
After 18 months of implementation, the project was completed ahead of schedule 6 months compared with the plan.
The express aims to fulfill the increasing demand for transport between Hanoi, Bac Ninh and Bac Giang, helping to reduce accidents and traffic jams on National Road 1A, contributing to socio-economic development and ensuring regional security and defense.
