Hanoi Times – A seminar on personnel training for information communication technology in Central Da Nang City has presented measures to ensure the supply of IT workers for social development and international economic integration.

In addition to human resource development, participants emphasized the need to improve the quality of IT human resource training to meet the international standard, making Vietnam one of suppliers of high-quality IT workers in the region and the world.

Speaking to about 400 researchers and scientists, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan affirmed that the government has paid much attention to education and training, especially in IT sector. Thanks to the fruitful training work, the IT sector has obtained encouraging achievements over the past 10 years, he said.

Vietnam now has about 35,000 workers working in software companies, more than 20,000 workers in digital content and IT services companies, nearly 100,000 workers in electronic and PC hardware companies and nearly 100,000 in telecom companies. Skilled workers account for 60-95 percent of the working staff in these businesses.

However, experts said the country must improve the quality of IT human resource training to catch up with the training level of advanced countries in the region, to meet the demand of employers, especially foreign companies and high-tech parks.
