The Prime Minister has approved the allocation of 3,000 billion VND or 140.6 million USD from the State budget in 2015 for climate change projects.
These projects include 16 unfinished projects under the Support Programme to Respond to Climate Change ( SP-RCC ) in previous years; projects on planting forest in coastal marshes and river upstream regions; and pressing projects on the list of the SP-RCC.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development are assigned, in collaboration with relevant agencies, to assess and take responsibility for all technical aspects of all mentioned-above projects as well as the prices and investment levels of forest-planting projects.
The Minister of Planning and Investment will be responsible for allocating capital to the unfinished projects in the framework of the SP-RCC and projects already completing all required procedures.
People’s Committee of provinces and cities are given the authority to approve new projects in the field based on technical assessment from relevant ministries; as well as to assess and decide investment amount for new projects or projects not yet to be funded.
