PM Dung arrives in the Netherlands

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrived in the Netherlands on March 23 for the third Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) at the invitation of his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte.

PM Dung and his entourage were welcomed by Vietnamese ambassador to the Netherlands Nguyen Van Doan and Vietnamese embassy staff.

The Vietnamese government leader is expected to deliver a keynote speech at the opening session of the summit on March 24 and meet with senior leaders from several nations on the sidelines of the event.

In his speech, he will also touch upon measures Vietnam has implemented within the framework of the past summits to contribute to the international community’s joint efforts.

PM Dung’s attendance is to affirm Vietnam’s unswerving policy of using nuclear energy for peaceful purpose, and ensuring nuclear safety and security.

The two-day summit is taking place at a time when countries are paying greater attention to multilateral mechanisms for coordinating efforts against global challenges, including terrorism and proliferation of mass destruction and nuclear weapons.

PM Dung attended the first NSS in the US in 2010 and the second in the Republic of Korea in 2012.
