PM held phone talks with RoK counterpart Hwang Kyo-ahn

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc on January 11 held phone talks with the Republic of Korea’s Acting President and PM Hwang Kyo Ahn on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (December 22, 1992-December 22, 2017) between Vietnam and the Northeast Asian country.

During the phone conversation, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc reiterated that Vietnam wants to strengthen the strategic cooperative partnership with the Republic of Korea (RoK). 

The two leaders highly valued the developments in the bilateral ties over the past 25 years, which have met expectations of, brought pragmatic interests to their people, and contributed to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Vietnam attaches importance to strengthening and deepening the strategic partnership (set up in 2009) with the RoK, affirmed PM Phuc. He expressed his hope that both sides should actively work together to discuss the exchanges of high-level visits and organize activities to mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties; effectively deploy cooperation mechanisms and the free trade agreement to lift up the bilateral trade and economic ties to new heights in a balanced and sustainable manner.

The two countries should expand cooperation in culture, education, tourism, labor and people-to-people exchanges; intensify coordination at multi-lateral forums, especially the United Nations, ASEAN, and APEC to make practical contributions to the maintenance of peace, stability and development in the region and the world, PM Phuc said.

He also asked the Korean side to faciliate Vietnamese exports to the Northeast Asian country; beef up invetment and assist technology transfer; continue support for Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea, especially Vietnamese brides to better integrate into the host society.

PM Phuc asserted that the Government of Vietnam is determined to build a constructive Government with a focus on improving instittutions and business environment, reforming adminstrative procedures, and enhancing competitiveness.

The Vietnamese Government always welcomes and stands ready to be a fellow-traveller of foreign investors, including those from the Republic of Korea, to help them expand long-term business activities in Vietnam.

Mr. Hwang, , for his part, spoke highly of his Vietnamese counterpart’s statements and agreed to bring into full play the potentials of each country so that the bilaterla ties would continue the development course with greater achievements in the time to come.

He affirmed that his Government will encourage businesses to enhance investment in Vietnam, vowing to continue support for the Vietnamese community, especially Vietnamese bridges in the Republic of Korea. The Korean Government also committed to fostering coordination with Vietnam at interntaional forums.

On the occasion, Acting President and PM Hwang Kyo Ahn also extended thanks to the Vietnamese Government and wished that the Vietnamese Government would create favorable conditions for Korean businesses as well as Korean community in Vietnam.

He expressed the wish that both sides would work closely together to hold activities celebrating the 25th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties, effectively implement the bilateral free trade agreement, and expand ties across culture, education, tourism, labour and people-to-people exchange. 

Acting President and PM Hwang Kyo-ahn affirmed that the RoK government will encourage businesses to invest more in Vietnam and continue to assist Vietnamese nationals in the country, especially brides, and coordinate closely with Vietnam in international forums. He expressed wish that the Vietnamese government would continue facilitating Korean businesses and community in Vietnam.
