PM Nguyen Tan Dung met with Belarusian President

On the afternoon of December 9, at headquarter of the Government, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung met with Belarusian President Alexander Grigorievich Lukashenko paying an official visit in Vietnam.
On behalf of the Government, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung warmly welcomed President Aleksandr Lukashenko Grigorievich to pay an official visit to Vietnam, expressed his pleasure at the important results achieved in the talks between the President and President Truong Tan Sang as well as in the meeting with the leaders of Vietnam.The Vietnamese government leader also highlighted President Lukashenko’s visit to Vietnam as a new landmark contributing to lifting the bilateral relations upwards a new height.
Expressing thanks and remembrance for Belarus' support and help for Vietnam in the years of struggle for national liberation, reunification as well as in the period of building and protecting the country, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said that Vietnam attaches special importance, along with Belarus, the two sides continue efforts to bring bilateral relations increasingly in-depth, practically and effectively, for the sake of both countries' common development.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and the Belarusian President agreed to push for the early ratification and implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union, in which Belarus is a member. They concurred to lift the Vietnam-Belarus Intergovernmental Committee to the ministerial level and convene the first meeting of the new-level committee in Minsk early next year in order to identify specific cooperation programmes and projects.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung pledged to support members of the Eurasian Economic Union, including Belarus, to expand their relations with ASEAN countries and access the market. The Belarusian President shared his views on the stance of Vietnam and other ASEAN member countries on ensuring and preserving peace, stability, security, maritime and aviation safety and freedom in the East Sea, which is an important condition for cooperation and development in the region and the world as a whole.
The Vietnamese government leader also highlighted President Lukashenko’s visit to Vietnam as a new landmark contributing to lifting the bilateral relations to a new height. The President used the occasion to invite PM Nguyen Tan Dung to pay an official visit to Belarus in the future. The two leaders stressed the need to reach the goal of US$500 million in two-way trade during their meeting in Hanoi. They asked the Inter-governmental Committee to support economic, trade, investment, education and tourism affiliations, and work closely together to enhance links.
Belarus wants Vietnam to help boost its ties with Southeast Asian countries, President Lukashenko said, adding that his nation pledges to help Vietnam expand partnership with Eastern Europe nations. He believed that Vietnam will move forward and successfully hold the upcoming 12th National Party Congress. The President called for close mutual support in building a legal foundation for bilateral cooperation and in monitoring the implementation of signed agreements.
In this spirit, the two leaders have agreed on the priority areas of cooperation including politics, diplomacy; economy, trade, investment and tourism; educations; military technology; science-technology and general studies.
The two leaders also agreed that Vietnam supports members of Asia - Europe Economic Union, including Belarus, to expand relations and access to the ASEAN market. At the mean time expressing the stance shared by Vietnam, the ASEAN countries as well as the international community towards ensuring and maintaining peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in East Sea - an important prerequisite for cooperation and development in the region and in the world.
