PM Nguyen Tan Dung: TPP will have a roadmap for businesses to adapt

During the TPP negotiations, Vietnam has achieved a roadmap for implementing appropriate time to help companies to restructure, improve productivity, efficiency and competitiveness.

This is information that is mentioned in Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung's report on the socio-economic status in 2015 and five years ò 2011-2015; orientations and tasks for 5 years of 2016-2020 and in 2016 at the opening session of Congress on the morning of October 20.

According to Prime Minister, Vietnam has actively participated in the negotiation of this Agreement from the beginning as a special observer and become an official member since November, 2010.

The Prime Minister said that under the agreement, the parties continue to complete the documents and procedures to be able to formally sign the Agreement in late 2015 or early 2016. After that, the country will proceed to ratify under laws of each country with the aim of putting the Agreement into effect from mid 2017 or early 2018.

The implementation of the TPP will create more opportunities and advantages for socio-economic development in our country, especially the sharp increase in exports, attracting foreign investment, contributing to higher economic growth, but we are also faced with challenges. For some industries, competitiveness is low, negotiations have reached a roadmap for implementing appropriate time to help companies to restructure, improve productivity, efficiency and competitiveness, Prime Minister identified.

The successful implementation of the TPP depends largely on the efforts of increasing the strength and competitiveness of each product, each enterprise and the whole economy. With experience in the process of opening up, international economic integration, especially after more than 8 years of joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), under the leadership of the Party and State's management, business community with bravery and intelligence of Vietnam, we believe that we will overcome difficulties and challenges, maximize opportunities, advantages and strive to achieve the highest results in real TPP Agreement, contributing to accelerate the process of industrialization and modernization, construction and defense of the country, the Prime Minister said.

"The government will submit to the National Assembly to ratify the Agreement in accordance with the law," Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung stressed.
