On May 28, in the visit to Japan, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with the President, Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Corporation, Mr. Takehiko Kakiuchi.
The Prime Minister appreciated that Mitsubishi arrived in Vietnam very early and has always strived to expand trade and investment over the past 20 years, a positive contribution to the economic development of Vietnam society.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has called on Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation to pour more investments in Vietnam, especially in the field of production, and speed up the implementation of its existing projects in the country. At a meeting, the Government leader said that Vietnam is a promising market and the Vietnamese Government always creates the best possible conditions for domestic and foreign investors.
Vietnam welcomes and encourages Japanese businesses, including Mitsubishi, to operate in the country, he said, stressing that the affiliation between the corporation and Vietnam’s FPT company over the past years has contributed to the friendship and effective cooperation between the two countries.
Hailing achievements Mitsubishi has reaped globally, the PM described the firm as a pride and one of the symbols of success of the Japanese economy.
Takehiko Kakiuchi, in reply, expressed his belief that following PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s visit to Japan, the relationship between the two countries will continue to move forward.
Mitsubishi considers Vietnam an important market and plans to boost its collaboration with local businesses, he said. He noted that Mitsubishi now has two affiliates specializising in import-export, along with 20 investment projects in Vietnam.
Mitsubishi wishes that PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the Vietnamese Government will create optimal conditions for the corporation to implement its programmes and projects in the country in the time to come.
Assessing the market potential of Vietnam, President Mitsubishi expressed desire to invest more in Vietnam. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc communicate the relevant authorities in coordination with Mitsubishi to implement necessary procedures prescribed to soon be able to sign the contract for the project.
Currently, Mitsubishi Corporation is implementing 20 projects in Vietnam, in the field of import and export, business machinery and equipment, chemicals, infrastructure, which are implementing major projects such Vung Ang thermal power capacity of 1,200 MW, with a total investment of $2.3 billion.
