On December 20 afternoon, at the head quarter of the Government, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted his reception for newly-appointed Canadian Ambassador Ping Kitnikone and Qatar Ambassador Mohammed El-Emadi when they assume duty in Vietnam.
Prime Minister received Canadian Ambassador
Congratulating Ms. Ping Kitnikone who was appointed as Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam, Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction at the results achieved in Vietnam-Canada relations for the past time. Canada has many investment projects in Vietnam, including projects on mineral exploitation, tourism and services. There are many Vietnamese students studying in Canada.
At the meeting, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that Vietnam commits to facilitating Canada-invested projects in Vietnam. The PM hailed achievements in Vietnam-Canada relations over the recent years, suggesting the two sides accelerate the two-way trade turnover in the future to meet their potentials.
The two sides are facing huge opportunities to strengthen their relationship, especially in terms of trade and investment, Official Development Assistance, education and training and people-to-people exchanges, he said. He expected that the two sides will continue supporting each other at international and regional forums, including the United Nations.
Vietnam is currently the largest trade partner of Canada in ASEAN, said Ambassador Ping Kitnikone, asserting that Canada will promote cooperation with Viet Nam in such areas as economics, trade and investment and raise the two-way trade turnover to meet the expectation of the PM in the future.
Canada is willing to address Vietnam’s challenges in fields of climate change adaption and food safety, she said, adding that a Canadian business delegation in aerospace will pay a working visit to Viet Nam in the upcoming time.
At present, around 5,000 Vietnamese students are living and studying in Vietnam. Canada organized Canada Education Fairs in Ho Chi Minh City, which attracted the participation of nearly 100 high schools and universities.

The same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also hosted reception for newly-accredited Qatar Ambassador to Vietnam Mohammed El-Emadi.
The PM expressed his desires to boost up cooperation with Qatar, especially in terms of trade, investment and labor. Vietnam regards Qatar as a potential partner in terms of trade, investment and infrastructure, he said, confirming that the Vietnamese Government welcomes all foreign investors and partners.
Vietnam expects to increase its exports to Qatar, said the PM, adding that Qatar will become a connection for Vietnamese goods to penetrate into Arabian nations.
Thanking for the PM's warm welcome, Qatar Ambassador said that during his tenure, he will endeavor to promote bilateral relations, especially in the fields the Prime Minister mentioned. This is also the concern of Qatar cooperation.
In the labor sector, the Ambassador said that Qatar is ready to receive more than workers with high technical level of Vietnam. Qatar Ambassador affirmed that he will do his utmost to enhance the two sides’ relationship and Qatar will receive more high skilled laborers from Vietnam.
