Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has given the green light to an action plan on increasing the efficiency of official development assistance (ODA) in the 2014-2015 period.
The plan, mapped out by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), focuses on the attraction, management and disbursement of ODA and other preferential loans from 2016 to 2020.
The MPI is required to set ODA and preferential loans within the public debt limits that have already been approved by the National Assembly.
The plan will be submitted to the Government for consideration in the fourth quarter of 2015.
PM Dung asked relevant ministries and agencies to complete legal framework and institution for ODA and other preferential loans in accordance with international commitments.
He also called for better project management capacity and higher responsibility of relevant agencies in removing obstacles, increasing transparency, combating corruption, and enhancing monitoring and evaluation.
