Post-pandemic tourism stimulus: Vietnam hotels and resorts offer big discounts

Many promotional packages are introduced by hotels and resorts nationwide to attract travelers on the occasion of upcoming year-end vacations.

As Covid-19 restrictions are being lifted in many localities, local hotels and resorts have launched promotion campaigns, restarting the nation’s tourism industry after the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is the second time in just four days, Phuong Linh, an employee of a travel agency announced ‘big deals’ on accommodation of a five-star resort in the beach city Danang (Quang Nam Province) at a tourism forum on Facebook.

According to her, before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the price of a three-day-two-night package at a 5-star resort was about VND10 million (US$450) per person. At present, this price has been halved, even reduced to two-thirds. Besides, the accompanying services are almost free. Then, travelers have loads of good options for their vacations.

“Currently, resort room rates in Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa Province), Phu Quoc Island (Kien Giang Province), Danang, and Hoi An ancient town (Quang Nam Province) are down by 50% to 60%,” she said.

According to the experts, in the context of the prolonged Covid-19 pandemic, many hotels and resorts offer promotions and discounts to attract travelers, in an attempt to offset part of the pandemic impacts in the fiscal year of 2021.

General Director of HTS International Phan Dinh Thao stated: “Travel companies look for tourists who have money, want to travel but with safety. In addition, the price reduction also targets the affluent customer segment, because the lower costs will stimulate their demand to enjoy luxury services at bargain prices."

According to Vu Lam, Agoda Country Director of Vietnam, the vaccination roll-out continues across the country, with 75% of the population aged 18 and over in Ho Chi Minh City and 47% of those in Hanoi fully vaccinated. "With the immunization in full speed, it's a safe time for travel," he said.

The newly launched “Vaxxed To Go platform” by Agoda not only provides good choices on accommodations for travelers but also protects them from coronavirus. Both accommodation staff and guests are allowed to accommodate at the resorts only by showing proof of full vaccination with the second dose administered fifteen days before.

“We aim to do our part in restoring and reviving the domestic travel economy in Vietnam by providing exciting and great value deals to vaccinated travelers, as well as support our hotel partners, who have been hit the hardest by the pandemic,” he said.

Agoda’s promotional campaign that is valid until January 2022 will offer unique packages at over 100+ hotels across Vietnam, including La Siesta Premium in Hanoi, Lotte Hotel, The Silverland and hotels, and The Myst in HCMC.

Each of these travel packages comes with some benefits, making the accommodation plus packages great value deals. These added benefits give vaccinated guests an even more relaxing stay, and range from priority check-ins, early check-ins, or late check-outs; a variety of food and beverage discounts; and unique on-site experiences such as spa and wellness deals.
