At the reception, the Vietnamese and Italian ministries of justice signed a memorandum of understanding to officially establish their cooperative relationship in law and justice. The document was inked by Minister Le Thanh Long and his Italian counterpart Andrea Orlando, who was on a working visit to Vietnam on October 26-27.
Accordingly, the two sides prioritise such cooperation activities as exchanging experience in judicial reforms, perfecting legal systems, and organising law enforcement and verdict implementation. They are set to share experience pertaining to the management system of judicial professions and the participation in relevant international conventions and organisations. They will also work together in training officials holding judicial positions.
At a meeting prior to the signing, Minister Long underlined that the Vietnamese Government considers institutions as a growth driver of socio-economic development. He also expressed his hope for more assistance from Italy in personnel training.
Andrea Orlando said law-related cooperation is a foundation for affiliation in other fields, adding that his country is ready to support Vietnam in judicial reforms. The Italian minister’s first visit to Vietnam is aimed at setting up the cooperative relationship in law and justice between the two ministries, thereby contributing to the two countries’ overall connections.
PM Phuc affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always supports and creates favorable ways for the cooperative ties between the two Ministries of Justice which contributed to nurturing the traditional relations and strategic partnership between Vietnam and Italy.
“Viet Nam regards institutional building as a breaking point in the development strategy,” said PM Phuc. Hence, the Government has spared no effort to perfect the institution, reform justice, put law into reality in favor of socio-economic development and interests of people and enterprises, he added.
The host leader suggested Italy call on the EU to early sign and pass the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and beef up cooperation on economics and investment, especially raise two-way trade turnover. PM Phuc underscored that the Vietnamese Government backs Italian businesses to do long-term projects here, especially in areas that Italy has advantages and Vietnam has demand.
For his part, Minister Andrea Orlando revealed that during his working visit in Viet Nam, the two Ministries of Justice would sign a memorandum of understanding for judicial cooperation. “We welcome Vietnam’s positive reform, especially in justice,” said Mr. Andrea Orlando. According to the Minister, the cooperation in justice would lay a foundation for further ties between the two business circles.
The same day, PM Phuc reaffirmed that that the Party and State of Vietnam consistently treasure the cooperation and special amity with Cuba and are glad about its new socio-economic achievements while hosting a reception for President Luis Enrique Gonzalez of PL, the official state news agency of Cuba.
Vietnam hopes that Cuba will harvest even greater accomplishments in the future, said the PM. The host leader proposed both sides increase IT application in their professional activities and work harder to deserve the trust of the Vietnamese and Cuban Party, State and peoples. The Vietnamese Government and people always want the two countries’ relations to be expanded in all aspects, including the cooperation between the news agencies, PM Phuc said.
For his part, the PL President noted his news agency, founded by leader Fidel Castro, is tasked with communicating information about the nation and people of Cuba to the international community, and updating news about other countries, including Vietnam, to Cuban people.
