Quang Ngai outlines plans to boost tourism next year

The central province of Quang Ngai will boost tourism and benefit locals through the introduction of community-based tourism services at destinations in the province beginning next year.

Huynh Thi Phuong Hoa, Deputy Director of the province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the island of Ly Son, mountainous Ba To District, the mural village of Thanh Thuy in Binh Son District, My Thien pottery village and the rural gardens of Nghia Hanh District have been selected to host visitors in the first quarter of next year.
Hoa said that the province has prepared accommodations, tour services and connections among travel agencies and locals to boost tourism in a way that will benefit local communities.

She said Ly Son Island, which is home to three cultures of Sa Huynh, Champa and Viet with numerous relic sites in Oc hamlet, Chinh spring, Gieng Tien crater, Hang pagoda and An Vinh communal house, is regarded as the first location in the province promoting home-stay services with 56 households.
According to island authorities, 18 hotels, guest houses and home-stays provide accommodation for 1,000 tourists at present. Visitors can explore farming experiences and rural life in the villages of Nghia Hanh District and encounter the culture of the H’Re ethnic group living in Ba To District.
Ba To District, 40km south of the provincial capital Quang Ngai City, preserves traditional brocade weaving, gong play and dance and a museum of artifacts and history.
The islanders of Ly Son will offer local cuisine and garlic and onion farming for tourists during a sea trip from Sa Ky port in summer.
An Binh Islet, three miles away from Ly Son Island, was decorated with a street art project by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) last year.
Boat services linking Ly Son Island with the Cham and Tam Hai islands in Quang Nam Province and the Han River Port in Da Nang City have been planned to boost tourism next year.
Quang Ngai is home to several relics and scenic spots boasting great potential to develop ecological, religious and historical tourism.
The province has great advantages for sea tourism with beautiful unspoiled beaches and spectacular landscapes. Its 150 km-long coastline has potential for building sea resorts. 
My Khe Beach in Son Tinh District, 12km from Quang Ngai City, is outstanding with a long sandy beach, warm weather, and a forest behind it. Many beautiful hotels have been built along the beach enabling tourists to enjoy pure air from the sea and relieve tiredness.
Sa Huynh Beach in Duc Pho District, 60km south of Quang Ngai, is famous for its beauty thanks to sparkling golden sand. There are numerous islands of different sizes off Sa Huynh Beach showing the local great potential for sea tourism. 
Nguyen Tan, an official of Duc Pho District said “Duc Pho has a 40-km beach with two estuaries: My A and Sa Huynh. The district also has a mountain range running to the sea which has underground rocks. These create beautiful landscapes and rich marine resources. The district will exploit these scenic spot to develop tourism and the local marine economy.”
Trang (White) waterfall in Minh Long District is one of the most famous destinations in Quang Ngai. Located 20 km southeast of Quang Ngai city, the waterfall with a large lake underfoot is an ideal destination for adventurers. In recent years, the waterfall has attracted a lot of tourists. 
With its unspoiled nature and numerous relics and scenic spots, Quang Ngai has also focused on upgrading its tourism infrastructure to attract more visitors.
