In the first nine months of the year, Vietnam exports of rice declined 5.2% in volume and 1.6% in value compared to the same period last year to 5.02 million tonnes valued at US$2.3 billion, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
In September, the nation exported 524,000 tonnes of rice valued at US$249 million.
The average tonnage price of rice during the nine-month period increased by 3.3% on-year to US$453.68.
China is the largest export market for Vietnamese rice, accounting for 33.24% of market share, followed by the Philippines ( 22.71%), Malaysia (6.1%), Ghana (5.37%) and Singapore (3.26%).
