Sapa among world’s best destinations to ward off winter chill

A series of snowy wonderland countries from all around the world are selected, under the main Skyscanner category of “direct flights”, in order to facilitate and shorten the trip during the busy New Year period.

Skyscanner, a global metasearch engine, has just named Sapa in Vietnam the number one place among six “New Year, New You” end-of-year winter destinations for a fabulous escape that won’t burn your pocket.

The travel search engine suggested that you can trek around Sapa village, soaking in the culture, lifestyle and natural beauty of this town in winter to feel fresh like new, like having recharged the battery of your life. There’s cable car you can ride to the summit of Fansipan Mountain. To top it all off, take pretty photos of the spectacular European style architecture on the lake in the center of the town.
“The coldest period is from December to January. You can use the “Find flights for the whole months” in order to find more affordable round trip tickets. You’ll arrive in Hanoi and take the bus or an overnight train to Lao Cai before continuing on to Sapa on the bus with spectacular views on both sides of the road to keep you entertained,” Skyscanner wrote.
On the list, Sapa is followed by Taichung in Taiwan (China), Sapporo in Japan, Hangzhou in China, Frankfurt in Germany, Salzburg in Austria.
Earlier, Sapa in the northern province of Lao Cai has been ranked 5th among the 50 most beautiful places on the planet, according to a list released by PureWow, a US digital media company that publishes women’s lifestyle content.
“Sapa in Vietnam is the stunning mountain town sits just below the Chinese border and its famous with the vertical rice terraces of the Muong Hoa Valley,” PureWow wrote.
Sapa welcomed nearly 1.5 million visitors in the first eleven months of 2017, of which more than 30% were international tourists. In 2016, there were 1.2 million visitors to the hill town, according to the Lao Cai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
