Sapo launches free digital tax package for five million business households
Sapo Technology JSC has introduced a free digital tax package to help five million business households declare taxes and move toward online operations, marking a major step in Vietnam’s tax modernization efforts.
THE HANOI TIMES — Vietnamese tech firm Sapo Technology JSC has rolled out a nationwide free tax support program to help millions of small business households shift from traditional to online operations and adapt to new tax declaration rules.

Launched on November 11, the program is backed by the General Department of Taxation, the Department of Digital Economy and Society under the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM) and the Vietnam Tax Consultants’ Association (VTCA). It aims to ease the transition from lump-sum to declarative taxation, a key step in Vietnam’s tax modernization drive.
According to Mai Son, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Taxation, Vietnam currently manages over 3.6 million business households, with about two million receiving special assistance during the transition.
“Our goal is to ensure every business household, including those in remote or disaster-hit areas, can access the necessary policies and technical support,” he said, adding that partnerships with technology firms such as Sapo are key to promoting transparency and inclusiveness in tax reform.
Son said that 98% of registered business households have already paid taxes electronically, more than 18,500 have switched from lump-sum to declarative taxation and 133,000 have registered for e-invoices through cash registers.
Sapo Chairman and CEO Tran Trong Tuyen called the end of lump-sum taxation a major step in modernizing Vietnam’s tax system and an opportunity for technology firms like Sapo to contribute to reform.
He said that Sapo, with 18 years of experience, would help business households follow new tax regulations and embrace digital operations through smart, AI-powered management and invoicing tools.
In response to the tax authority’s “60-day transition campaign,” Sapo launched the Sapo 6870 package, offering business households free access to sales management, e-invoicing and automatic tax declaration through a mobile app.
Participants will receive 24 months of free software use, 2,000 e-invoices and three months of digital signature service. Sapo will also provide free accounting software for larger households preparing to register as enterprises.
More than 1,000 Sapo experts and advisors will guide users nationwide in software installation, e-invoice registration and tax filing. The company’s integrated AI chatbot will offer 24/7 support with the latest legal updates.
To further assist users, Sapo launched an online platform called “Tax and E-Invoice Station” and plans a series of workshops and livestream sessions with tax officials and industry experts.
In late October, technology firm MISA introduced a similar solution. The initiatives by MISA and Sapo are expected to accelerate digital transformation, help five million business households become small enterprises, promote financial transparency and support the goals set out in the Politburo’s Resolution 68 on private sector development.
