Savor Malaysian delicacies in Hanoi

Gourmets in Hanoi will have the opportunity to sample a variety of Malaysian delicacies prepared by talented chef Azlan Juri during the Beautiful Taste of Malaysia Food Week.

Hosted by the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board in collaboration with the Embassy of Malaysia in Vietnam, the event will be held at the Hanoi Daewoo Hotel from September 12 to 16 to give connoisseurs an opportunity to experience Malaysia's rich culinary heritage and traditional culture and celebrate the 67th anniversary of Malaysia's independence.

The festival will officially open with a luncheon at Café Promenade on September 12, honored by the presence of Dato' Tan Yang, Ambassador of Malaysia to Vietnam. Chef Azlan Juri, a respected Malaysian chef, will lead the culinary experience with live cooking demonstrations of traditional Malaysian dishes. 

Guests will also enjoy a special performance by a Malaysian cultural troupe, offering an authentic insight into the nation's music, dance, and traditions, providing a special glimpse into the country's rich heritage. 

Dishes include rendang (tenderly braised beef or chicken), satay (grilled chicken or mutton skewers served with peanut sauce), rojak (mixed salad), chicken/lamb curry, cendol (a shaved ice dessert with green beans) and char kway teow (stir-fried noodles with seafood or meat).

Each dish not only offers a unique flavor, but also tells a story of Malaysia's diverse culinary heritage, influenced by Malay, Indian, and Chinese cuisines.

During Food Week, guests will also have the opportunity to experience traditional Malaysian culture by watching Malaysian dancers perform.

According to Firdauz Bin Othman, Malaysian Consul General in HCM City, Vietnam and Malaysia are not only neighbors but also close friends with strong cooperation in many areas, including tourism and culture.

"This food week is a clear testimony to the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. We hope that through these cultural exchange activities, the relationship between Vietnam and Malaysia will continue to grow stronger," he said.

The Food Week will also be held at the Sheraton Saigon Grand Opera Hotel from September 6 to 16, and at the Malaysian restaurant Lesung Saigon Restaurant from September 11 to 16.
