Signing agreements on Vietnam-RoK information technology cooperation
During a working visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK) from July 1-3, Vietnamese Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son and RoK’s Minister of Science, Information Communications Technology, and Future Planning Choi Yang-hee have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding on comprehensive cooperation in science, technology and communications.
The Vietnamese minister held talks with RoK’s Minister of Science, Information Communications Technology, and Future Planning Choi Yang-hee.
At the talks, the two ministers agreed to encourage information technology (IT) and telecom businesses to increase information exchange and seek cooperation opportunities in human resources training, education, and information security.
After the talks, they inked a new Memorandum of Understanding on comprehensive cooperation in science, technology and communications between Vietnam and the RoK.
The two ministers also agreed to establish a joint committee on deploying commitments in the agreement.
Ministers Nguyen Bac Son and Choi Yang-hee attended a forum to boost the Vietnam-RoK investment cooperation in IT and communication field.
At the forum, Minister Nguyen Bac Son appreciated the Vietnam-RoK cooperation of IT and communication enterprises, contributing to deepen strategic partners relations between the two countries.
Minister Son said the RoK is the third biggest trade partner and the second largest investor of Vietnam.
Particularly, in the first half of this year, the RoK became the top investing country in Vietnam with the total registered capital of 1.52 billion USD, accounting for 27.7% of the total foreign direct investment in the country in the period.
The two ministers witnessed the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding on cooperation between the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and the RoK LG Electronics Group, and between Vinaphone and the RoK Bigstar Global.
Earlier, in the framework of his visit to Korea,
Minister Son also visited and worked with representatives from Samsung Electronics and Dongbu insurance groups.
The Minister witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Mobifone and Samsung group to develop the 4G/LTE mobile network.
