Start-up story of a disabled director

In order to not become a burden for family Phan Son Huong (born 1985), a disabled young man has overcome difficulties to become director of an online marketing and printing company.

Moreover, he always cares for and supports anyone who has the same difficulties as him. Phan Son Huong said, he was born with disabilities as a victim of agent orange. As his family is poor and with disabilities, he has developed an inferiority complex. However, he has always longed to be successful, so that he does not become a burden for his family. With determination and effort, he has tried to walk on his own and also got accepted to the Hue University College of Arts. However, due to his difficult family financial situation, in 2006, Huong decided to pursue studying in a vocational school majoring in Information & Technology (IT).

Huong participated in programming under the IT training programs for disabled people, which is financed by Hanoi College of Information Technology and Catholic Relief Services of the USAID in 2009. After 2 years of studying, Huong applied for some companies, but due to his disabilities, he was rejected. Overcoming difficulties, he did not give up to strive for success. In 2014, Huong established Ngan Ha Xanh JSC, which specializes in printing, designing, marketing online without any fund. During his start-up process, he understands clearly difficulties of disable people in the way to be self-dependent. As such, he created conditions and supported disabled people to have chance to work in graphic designing. “I myself have had difficulties in finding works, so others will no doubt have it more difficult. As such, I decided to teach practical designing for free with what the society needs, after completing the training course, I am willing to recruit them into the company” – Huong said.

After 3 years of start-up, Huong has saved up an amount of hundreds of million VND. In particular, Huong along with his wife has created jobs and careers for more than 50 disabled people in Hanoi with an average wage of 4 – 5 million VND per month. “I am delighted that many people after completing the training course have joined my company, or some even founded their own companies” – Huong shared his joys.

Known as tiny boy, Canh Chi Khanh (born 1989) in Tan Hoi, Dan Phuong felt his luck when being able to study and then work in a friendly working environment. Here, he can feel the closeness, open and sincerity of the young director to his employees. “In three years of studying and working in Ngan Ha Xanh, I feel myself more mature, confidence and want to contribute for the company in long term. I am grateful to Huong, thanks to him, I have not been a burden to my family anymore, and have a stable job in graphic designing, which I had not had dreamed of before” – Khanh said.

After all the difficulties and with disabilities, Huong of today has become a manager with his own company in online marketing and printing. However, he is not satisfied yet with his success, Huong said. He intended to develop the company further to create more jobs and support more people who has the same difficulties as him.
