Street food challenge in Vietnam with just US$5

A meager amount of just US$5 is enough for a foreign couple to enjoy plentiful and delicious street food in Vietnam.

Two travelers from Sweden and Wales, who are founders of “2Passports 1Dream”, a YouTube Channel, have just taken a “Street food tour challenge in Vietnam” with just $5 (VND115,000) for two people in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ho Thi Ky Street in Ho Chi Minh City's District 10 is considered a street food heaven for both locals and international travelers, featuring over 100 food stalls serving Vietnamese specialties from various localities such as Hanoi, Hue, Danang, and Cantho, among others.

With just 5 US dollars, Adriana and Dylan tasted five delicious dishes each, including fried rolls of potato, taro, and sweet potato with cheese powder at VND20,000 ($0.8); charcoal fire-grilled pork with cheese VND23,000 ($0.9); fresh spring roll with vegetable, shrimp and pork to eat accompanied with sweet sauce VND9,000($0.4); grilled eggs with vegetable at VND15,000 ($0.65); flan cake with cacao powder at VND30,000 ($1.3) and iced tea with mulberry syrup at VND15,000 ($0.65).

According to the couple, they have only been to Vietnam a few days, so they don't really know Vietnamese street food, “so this is the perfect time to try some new things out,” Dylan said.

“In our previous street food challenges, we were able to buy loads of food in Thailand but here we don't know anything about prices or anything, so we glad to take the audiences around on our little walk for food,” they added.

The Ho Thi Ky Street in HCMC is famous for its flower market as well as alleys filled with street food stores.

At the end of the challenge, Adriana and Dylan can even save some Vietnamese dong left after filling their stomachs with loads of noshes and a drink.

“I think it has been a super successful street food challenge. We’ve got all the food with less than $5,” Dylan jumped to the conclusion.

The couple’s 14-minute-length interesting clip is going viral on YouTube, with nearly 84.000 viewers, and gained around 3.500 likes.
