Tan Trao national tourist site to welcome 2 million visitors by 2030

Under the plan, Tan Trao national tourist side covers 2,500-hectare in five communes of Tan Trao, Minh Thanh, Trung Yen, Binh Yen and Luong Thien in Son Duong district and Kim Quan in Yen Son district.

The site targets to receive 1.5 million visitors in 2025, including 2,000 foreigners. The number of tourists will increase to 2 million in 2030, including 35,000. Revenue from tourism is expected to exceed VNĐ600 billion (US$26.4 million) in 2025 and VNĐ1.65 trillion (US$72.7 million) in 2030.

According to the plan, local authorities will enhance the tourism promote to attract visitors from large cities of Hanoi, Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh as well as Tuyen Quang province’s neighboring provinces in the northeast and northwest regions.

Key markets for international tourists will be Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia countries and territories in such as China, Japan, Taiwan and Korea as well as Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines, besides foreigners living in Vietnam.

The plan also focuses on key products such as tours exploring the historical value of the site, educating on its patriotic tradition and ecotourism.

As for the tourism infrastructure development, the plan will increase the number of 3-5 star standard rooms to 500 by 2020 and 1,000 by 2030 besides developing restaurants, homestay facilities, entertainment, sport centers and parks.

All available resources will be mobilized to implement the project, including sources provided from the State budget, the National Fund for Tourism Development, financial support from organizations, businesses and other legal investment sources.

Among them, the State budget will be used to improve infrastructure, bolster the marketing and brand of the site, enhance human resources, preserve and promote the historical and cultural values of the complex.

Tan Trao, known as Vietnam’s revolutionary cradle, was once the home of Uncle Ho along with the Party central agencies in the pre-insurrection period and in the war against the French. It is the site of many historic events leading up to the August Revolution and victory.

Besides Tan Trao, Tuyen Quang Province is also famous with home-stay tourism in Lam Binh district, which has drawn both domestic and international holiday-makers to the imposing landscape and cultural tradition of ethnic minorities in the locality.

Visitors can see raw mountainous regions and enjoy a family atmosphere when staying in a local homestay. Traditional stilt houses as well as “then” singing and “coi” singing now double up as tourism products.

Locals have upgraded houses to receive visitors and purchased more boats to take them to explore the Tuyen Quang hydropower plant reservoir.

This community-based tourism has earned local households stable incomes.

A board supporting agriculture business in the district has helped 16 families in Thuong Lam, Khuon Ha and Lang Can communes offer homestay services and has created opportunities for them to learn experience from each other.

Nguyen Van Hien, Vice Chairman of Lam Binh district People’s Committee, said that the locality will continue efforts to zone off potential tourism sites and pay heed to preserving ethnic minority groups’ cultural values.

The district will prioritize developing community tourism alongside preserving traditional culture and festivals as well as repairing historic relic sites and tourist attractions. 

Homestay tourism villages will be built in the locality, ensuring sufficient infrastructure and hygiene. Training courses will be opened for locals to restore cotton plantations and traditional weaving.
