Thang Long volunteer tourist guide team leaves good impressions to foreign tourists

The team of young volunteers supporting Thang Long - Hanoi tourism, who has been impressing residents and visitors with their activities to promote Hanoi’s culture and history, have made a significant contribution to the overall achievement of the Hanoi`s tourism sector in 2016.

Permanent Secretary Hanoi’s Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Tran Anh Tuan said the team of young volunteers supporting Thang Long - Hanoi tourism has been creating a good impression with the international tourists to the capital of Hanoi.
The team of young volunteers supporting Thang Long - Hanoi tourism was set up in June last year by Hanoi’s Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the municipal Departments of Culture and Sports and Department of Tourism.

More than 300 members of the team has been assigning to operate in the six monuments, landscapes, tourist spots include: Imperial Citadel of Thang Long; the Temple of Literature; Ho Chi Minh Museum; Hoan Kiem Lake; West Lake; the  Old Quarter, the night market and the Dong Xuan market.
Hundreds of volunteers supporting Thang Long - Hanoi tourism act as tourism ambassadors, promoting Hanoi to foreign tourists.
Before becoming official team members, selected volunteers were trained in basic knowledge of the city’s cultural and historical values and basic tourism promotion skills.
These  volunteers must have fairly high requirements, including a good academic record in majors are trained, fluent in foreign languages, shape-good health, communication skills and loves volunteering.
After being recruited, the volunteers were trained on skills: communication, working style, basic knowledge about monuments, landscapes, and assigned to take charge, first aid for travelers in unexpected circumstances (Handbook mild injury, ...). 
Volunteer activities are conducted under the authority of the Management Committee with the task of: advocacy of cultural values, history of monuments , landscapes; Tourism professional support; Tutorials, welcome visitors and international cross; Join preserves the environment, beautify the landscape monuments, landscapes. 
Along with the deployment activities of the volunteer team is part of pratical activities contributing to soon implement the target of turning the city's tourism industry into  a spearhead economic sector with high- growth value.
Particularly, on walking paths around Hoan Kiem Lake, the volunteer tourist guide team have been impressing local residents and visitors with their activities to promote Hanoi’s culture and history.
Folk games like “o an quan” - literally "Mandarin's square capturing - jumping rope, and playing bamboo jacks are being taught by the volunteers to enthusiastic tourists.
According to Permanent Secretary Tran Anh Tuan, the model of volunteer tourist guide team in Hanoi has seen positive results that should be further expanded in the coming time.
Since being established, the volunteers have actively helped to introduce the capital’s relics to foreign tourists, becoming "ambassadors" of Hanoi’s tourism.
