The beauty of Vietnam’s rocky coasts

In addition to beautiful beaches and blue water, these beaches have rock grounds with strange shapes and bright colors, which are the masterpieces bestowed by Mother Nature.

1. Da Nhay Beach

This is a beautiful beach that is 40 km north of Dong Hoi city in the central province of Quang Binh. Da Nhay in Vietnamese means "the rocks that jump", referring to the topographical feature of this beach which sees thousands rock reaching the sea, surrounding small fine sand beaches suitable for sea bathing. This is one of the most important attractions sites in Quang Binh, along with Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.


2. Ly Son Island

After 30 minutes by boat, visitors reach the Be (small) island of An Binh Commune, in the Ly Son Island District, where a clean and fresh beach has not been discovered . There are many rugged cliffs and rocky grounds here, emerging amid the vast sea. Whenever there are large waves, the rocks hidden beneath the water appear, creating an interesting scene. In the north of the island is a beach with thousands of sparkling boulders under a blazing sky.


3. Ganh Da Dia

Located in An Ninh Dong Commune, Tuy An District, Phu Yen Province, Ganh Da Dia is a wonderful natural landscape and is geologically unique in Vietnam. More than 30km from Tuy Hoa Town, visitors can reach Ganh Da Dia by driving or riding.

This destination is categorized as one of the natural wonders of Central Vietnam. As a rocky plate reef of 50 meters wide and over 200 meters long, Ganh Da Dia is a collection of many large rocks evenly rising up in their pentagonal shapes; it was formed by a volcanic eruption millions of years ago.

Hearing the name Ganh Da Dia, people think immediately of piles of cups and plates in ceramic furnaces. From a distance, a mystifying arrangement of thousands of large stones looks like a giant beehive. In addition, coming here, the traveler should visit the old Mang Lang church and the many quiet villages. You will feel very comfortable by the peaceful atmosphere here. Moreover, you can have a chance to swim at Bai Chang Beach which is so clean and wild. Seafood here is delicious. All will make you have an unforgettable trip.  

In 1998, Ganh Da Dia was recognized as a national heritage site.

4. Queen Beach

Considered a gift of nature, Queen Beach is the most beautiful beach in Binh Dinh Province. The beach was named Queen because Queen Nam Phuong, wife of Vietnamese emperor Bao Dao, chose this place as her own beach.

Hoang Hau Beach is as glamorous as its name. Coming here, tourists are impressed by a number of huge egg-shaped stones in the beach. In front of the beach, the natural rocky walls hold back waves to create calm waters. Many comfortable guesthouses are available here.

Coming here, tourists can swim, fish, climb mountains and discover Ghenh Rang Beauty Spot or enjoy seafoods such as snail, crab, cuttlefish, and shrimp.

5. Co Thach rocky beach

Co Thach rocky beach is located at Lien Huong, Tuy Phong, Binh Thuan Province which is about 280km away from Ho Chi Minh City. The beach here is naturally ornamented with seven colored pebble stones and beautiful rock formations.

This rocky bank has been formed over hundreds of thousands of years , with a length of about 0.9 km, a width of 200-300m and a stone reserve of 244 sq. kilometers . The original shapes and colors of stone here attract the eyes of visitors. Under the waves and sunlight, the stone bank shines and the stones look like jewels.

Co Thach also attracts visitors with its huge rocks, to which many legends are attached. The rock bank is surrounded by a wild yellow sand bank named Bai Tien. According to legend, this place was the “resort” of fairies. Near the beach is the Hang (Cave) Pagoda.


6. Binh Chau Cliff

With the huge stone blocks standing out on the blue water of the sea, Binh Chau cliff is wild and grandiose. It is an attractive tourist destination in Vung Tau. Tourists will have the exciting experience of feeling big waves beating against the rocks, creating white foam of over 10 meters in height.


7. Dinh Cau

The Dinh Cau beach is the home to big rocks of strange and beautiful shapes. In this place, visitors enjoy a charming scene with sunlight, blue sea and white sand. Enjoying the beautiful sunset on the sea is another unforgettable experience on the island of Phu Quoc.
