The first international conference on “Global Citizen Education”
The international conference will focus on the leading guidance role of universities on how students should be equipped & leverage skills to adapt to new challenges & tough requirements of the global future working environment.
The conference on the topic “Exploring Boundaries of Global Citizenship” is about to take place between July 29 and 30, with the attendance of expert guest speakers, educators, and international students at FPT tower, which is located at 10 Pham Van Bach Street, Hanoi.
Let’s look through the definition of the term “Global citizen” in the global setting
Global Citizenship Education is important for all, especially the youth to build up a solid foundation of knowledge, skills, and labor values in an international working environment.
Dr. Marisha McAuliffe - known as the Director of Student Support Headquarter at Swinburne Vietnam is the representative of the Organizing Committee of the EBGC conference. Since 2015, when UNESCO first launched the definition of Global Citizenship, there have been several changes made on the global scale.

“With the complexity of the global environment, the world is opened unlimitedly, not just be closed in any cities and countries you are working at. In Vietnam, even educators, and young people working in Global Citizenship Competence programs have not fully understood how a global setting is being formed,” she said.
Understanding this context, the international conference “Exploring Boundaries of Global Citizenship” (EBGC) will be held, focused on the leading guidance role of universities on how students should be equipped & leverage skills to adapt to new challenges & tough requirements of the global future working environment?”.
A forum where educators, strategic planners & international students connect, discuss and explore practical solutions
The conference will be held on July 29-30, including but not limited to discussions, sharing sessions on perspectives, and new research from expert educators, academic researchers, and planners who are working at Global Citizen Education programs.
The EBGC conference will be honored to welcome the representatives from both international organizations & national institutions namely UNESCO Vietnam, UN Women, World Bank, New Zealand Embassy, Australia Embassy, Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) as well as other international & local universities.

Besides, at the conference, we will welcome students who are concerned with personal development & adaptation to the global working environment. The free entrance will be provided for all students to have open discussions on their perspectives. Especially, a discussion session will be hosted by students studying at Swinburne Vietnam.
The Scope of work will be about the updated definition of global citizens; the importance of Global Citizenship Education; the existing issues on the training activities to tackle and provide the best skills for students.
In addition, insights from students, and parents will be provided objectively for experts and educators to consider the strengths & weaknesses of Global Citizenship Education's current practices. For these reasons, it is believed that future Global Citizenship Education will be more well-rounded and provide better qualities for students, and others related.
Beyond a common conference on Global Citizenship Education, the EBGC program is led by key experts namely Her Excellency Tredene Dobson - Ambassador at the New Zealand Embassy in Vietnam, Dr. Andrew Kong - Pro-Vice Chancellor & Chief Executive Vocational Education at the Swinburne University of Technology, Dr. Kim Wilkins - Professor of Writing & Deputy Associate Dean of HASS Research at The University of Queensland, Dr. Ly Tran - Professor & ARC Future Fellow at Deakin University, Ms. Sophia Li - Regional Director of Times Higher Education.
In terms of topics, attendees will discuss various topics, not limited to digital fluency, resilience, culture exchanges, creativity, etc. to provide diverse research on a global setting.
