Hanoi Times – Mr. K.Kanekiyo, the director of JICA’s Research Group, forecasted energy demand of Vietnam will increase 4.3 times in the two coming decades at the seminar on researching the national power’s diagram held on January 23 in Hanoi.

He also stated that Vietnam will become energy importer by 2015 instead of being energy exporter now.

The experts warned that Vietnam’s per-capita electricity consumption against GDP is much higher than that of Thailand and some other countries in the region.

To supply the increasing of power demand, Vietnam should have a master plan to conserve, exploit and utilize energy resources, the experts suggested.

The workshop was held by the Energy Institute and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
