Maison Marou Hanoi
Maison Marou opened the first bean-to-bar chocolate showroom in Hanoi, on Tho Nhuom Street in the city center, on August 31. On an area of over 250 sq m, the showroom provides a complete chocolate experience. “Everything is made at the showroom in front of customers, such as roasting cacao beans and making chocolate,” said Mr. Vincent Mourou, co-founder of the showroom. It also has chocolate rooms that make different types of chocolate bars, little chocolate bon bons, and fine pastries.
In its six classic chocolate bars, Marou has created a new chocolate taste from the specialties in each province. For example, there are many coconuts in Ben Tre, which was added to Ben Tre cacao. In Lam Dong, people grow Arabica coffee, so coffee has bene added to Lam Dong chocolate. Mr. Mourou is inspired by idea of cacao beans and other ingredients.
This is Maison Marou’s second bean-to-bar chocolate showroom in Vietnam, after the first in Ho Chi Minh City. “We opened one shop in Ho Chi Minh City with the same concept, now we want to do it in Hanoi because the city has four seasons, and especially a cold winter,” he said. “Chocolate is typically associated with cold weather, because people naturally like hot chocolate.”
Mr. Mourou and Mr. Maruta hope to make Vietnamese chocolate well-known around the world via Marou. Visitors can watch staff make the cakes at the store.
