Total lunar eclipse to occur on October 8

According to the Vietnam Astronomy Association– a total lunar eclipse will occur on October 8 and the entire event will be visible in Vietnam.

The last time, Vietnamese people had the opportunity to witness the phenomenon was in December 2011.
 


Vu Tuan Son, head of the Vietnam Astronomy Association, said this year’s lunar eclipse can be observed in the west of North America, Austria and the east of Asia. The whole phenomenon can be seen in Vietnam.

The best time to watch the lunar eclipse is from 15:15 to 20:34 and the time of the full moon (Moon comes into the dark of the earth) should take place from 17:25 to 18:24.  The moon will reach the maximum at 17:54.

During the maximum time, the moon turns to a light red and a dark red like blood colour. The phenomena is called “blood moon”.
