The number of visitors to Hanoi in the first seven months of 2019 was estimated at 16.7 million, up 9.2% year-on-year, according to a recent report by the municipal Department of tourism.
Of the figure, there are nearly 3.7 million foreign arrivals and 13 million domestic visitors, up 8.9% and 9.3% year-on-year, respectively, the Government Portal reported.
The number of stay-over foreign tourists reached some 2.6 million in the reviewed time, up 6.2% versus 2018.

According to the statistics, Hanoi currently has 3,499 lodging facilities including hotels, condo-hotels, and hostels with a total of 60,812 rooms.
In July, the occupancy rate of hotels in Hanoi has reached an average of 64.2%, 2.87 percentage points higher than the previous year and 3.2 percentage points less than the previous month. While the rate of four to five star hotels in the city remains high, including 90% at JW Marriot, 88% at De l'Opera and 78% at Sheraton, among others, hotels of one to three stars witness of a significant decrease in the occupancy rate for "low season".
The Hanoi stay-over foreign visitors are mainly of South Korean, Chinese and Japanese nationalities.
In addition, Hanoi has a total of 20 standard food and beverage businesses and 24 standard shopping centers that provide the locals and visitors with diverse services including shopping, catering, entertainment, among others.
In the first seven months of this year, the Hanoi Department of Tourism has taken measures to boost tourism, promote the city’s image as well as expand the market and tighten inspection to ensure the favorable tourism environment.
