Van Don Heritage Road to be built in Quang Ninh

The northern province of Quang Ninh will build the Van Don Heritage Road, which is expected to become a tourism magnet of the island and contribute to boosting the province’s socio-economic development.

To be developed by the Van Don Heritage Road Joint Stock Company, the VND5 trillion (US$220.26 million) project will cover an area of more than 3,300ha and have nine sub-areas -- ocean resort, luxury residential area, ecological area and hilltop scenic village, as well as golf course, spiritual tourism area, coastal resort, luxury mountain-side area and gigantic islands.
Nguyen Van Doc, secretary of the provincial Party Committee, highly appreciated the plans for the Van Don Heritage Road, which integrated the land’s natural conditions and traditional culture.

The province generally agreed with the proposed planning of the developer but asked for careful study of the impact on the lives of residents, environment and ecosystem to ensure harmonized connectivity with other projects in the region and environmental protection.
The province also asked the developer to gear up the making of detailed plans and ensure the project’s progress.
The northern province of Quang Ninh is also speeding up the implementation of infrastructure projects in Van Don, including the resettlement project of Van Don International Airport, highway projects from Ha Long to Van Don and Van Don to Mong Cai, and the Hon Net-Con Ong Port complex.
Van Don Heritage Road is among a series of project worth VND61 trillion (US$2.7 billion) in total to be developed at Van Don next year, as a foundation for turning the district into a special administrative-economic unit.
Besides Van Don Heritage Road, the large-scale tourism projects include the Sonasea Dragon Bay tourism complex in Ha Long commune worth VND5 trillion of the CEO Group, the Furama Ha Long Viet Nam Resort & Villas worth VND1.12 trillion invested by Viglacera corporation.
A luxury resort and entertainment complex on Ngoc Vung island of FLC Group will also be launched, with investment of VND46 trillion, as well as a project on urban and port areas in northern Cai Bau island costing about VND3.5 trillion.
Van Don is a district comprising more than 600 islands. It is approximately 175 km from Ha Noi, 80 km from the northern port city of Hai Phong and 50 km from Ha Long city. It boasts rich ecosystems, beautiful beaches and islands, with potential to become a world-class maritime tourism destination.
