The 7th Nha Trang Sea Festival themed “Peace and Creativity” will be organized from July 11-14, said Vice Standing Chairman of the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee Tran Son Hai at a press conference in Hanoi on May 8.
During the 2015 Nha Trang Sea Festival, about 60 culture, sports and tourism activities will take place in the central province of Khanh Hoa.
The festival is expected to attract 100,000 tourists.
According to Vice Chairman Hai, Head of the Organising Board, the festival will include outstanding activities such as an exhibition on marine cultural heritage, a document display on the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos, the semi-final round of the Miss Universe Vietnam, and salangane nest, wine and embroidery festivals.
Other highlights will be a street festival, a music programme on seas and islands and performances by foreign arts troupes.
Around 20 activities will take place in the run up to the Sea Festival, including beach cleanups, Ocean Day and Sea and Island Week, he added.
Hai said only 30-35% of the event funding has been sourced from the province’s budget; the rest is covered by private organisations and companies.
Known for a mild climate, Nha Trang city saw an annual 10-20% increase in the number of visitors, which increased three-fold over the last four years from 300,000 to 900,000.
