Vice Chairman of Vietnam Journalists attended conference by Confederation of ASEAN Journalists' Action Group

A conference yesterday held by Confederation of ASEAN Journalists` (CAJ) Action Group took place in Vientiane, Laos.

The delegates from 6 CAJ member countries discussed and jointly assessed the implementation of the proposed program, determine the future direction activities of the Federation. This is the first activity of the CAJ since the 18th General Assembly and 40th Anniversary of the founding CAJ hosted by the Vietnam Journalists' Association in Hanoi on May 11, 2015. Mr. Ho Quang Loi, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association and CAJ Secretary General led Vietnamese delegation to attend the meeting.

This will be an opportunity for ASEAN journalists to meet and share experiences, thereby contributing to enhance the understanding about country and people of member countries in the ASEAN Community through the mainstream media.

In addition, the Vietnam Journalists Association also suggested organizing press photo prize for CAJ members with the theme "ASEAN - One Community", scheduled for December, 2016. The photo contest will reflect life and people of ASEAN, the beautiful moments of daily life, folk customs, traditional culture and modern, linkages, friendship and relationship between the member countries of the ASEAN Community, ASEAN for peace and prosperity.

At the meeting, participants also discussed the expansion of the Union with the participation of journalists held in Cambodia and Myanmar. The delegates hope that Vietnam Journalists Association will act as a bridge between the Union and the ASEAN Secretariat, to explore possibilities of cooperation between ASEAN Federation of journalists and the activities of the ASEAN Secretariat.

Action Group also agreed to hold a board of directors meeting in late November 2016 of CAJ in Jakarta, Indonesia, and held the 19th General Assembly of CAJ in Bangkok, Thailand.

Confederation of ASEAN Journalists wishes that exchanges, bilateral cooperation, multilateral and cross-media product will be published in the mass media mainstream of each member country; the understanding, trust and solidarity between the brother countries of the region will be increasingly strengthened and developed.
