Vietnam aims to meet international standards by 2010

Hanoi Times - Vietnam plans to completely transform its standards system to become compatible with the global system by the end of 2010. The plan was announced at a meeting to celebrate World Standards Day (Oct. 14) in Hanoi.The Vietnamese Government has encouraged local and foreign individuals, organisations and overseas Vietnamese to participate in establishing standards and technical criteria as well as investing in activities related to this field, head of the national standards watchdog Ngo Quy Viet said.

The Vietnamese Government has encouraged local and foreign individuals, organisations and overseas Vietnamese to participate in establishing standards and technical criteria as well as investing in activities related to this field, head of the national standards watchdog Ngo Quy Viet said.

Viet also affirmed that the Government has encouraged the expansion of international cooperation in the field of standards and technical criteria, with respect to equality and mutual benefit.
This year’s World Standards Day is themed “Intelligent and Sustainable Buildings ”, aiming to achieve a level of standardisation throughout the construction industry, a sector that has a huge influence upon the nation’s economy, society and the environment.
