Vietnam Airlines among the businesses with sustainable development
National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines was honoured as among the top ten businesses with sustainable development at the Golden Dragon Awards & Vietnamese Excellent Brands Festival 2017 – 2018.
This is the annual event co-held by the Vietnam Economic Times Newspaper and the Department of Trade Promotion under the Ministry of Industry and Trade in order to honor local firms with outstanding business performance and considerable contributions to the society.
Particularly, the category of “Businesses with sustainable development” is selected from many perspectives, such as production and business activities, registered trademark protection, quality of services and products, business governance, human resources, full implementation of tax obligations, and application of technological solutions for environmental protection.
Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2018, Vietnam Airlines has been named among the best carriers in Asia for 2018 by TripAdvisor, the US-based travel planning and booking site. In its Travelers’ Choice Major Airlines – Asia 2018 announced on April 9, Vietnam’s national flag carrier stands shoulder to shoulder with other five-star airlines, including Singapore Airlines, All Nippon Airway (ANAs), Korean Air, Garuda Indonesia, and Cathay Pacific.
The award winners were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality of airline reviews and ratings submitted by travelers worldwide, over a 12-month period. Airlines are rated on categories such as customer service, seating, sanitation, meals and drinks, check-in procedures, and entertainment facilities.
TripAdvisor launched its airline review category two years ago. The website has so far gathered more than 900,000 reviews for over 550 carriers worldwide. Of these, Vietnam Airlines have received nearly 4,000 reviews in 26 different languages, attracting huge attention from the TripAdvisor travel community.
The revenue and profit indicators of Vietnam Airlines Corporation showed growth as planned in 2017, the firm reported.
Vietnam Airlines and its members, including Jetstar Pacific and Vietnam Air Services Company (VASCO), earned a consolidated revenue of VND88.4 trillion (US$3.88 billion) and pre-tax profit of more than VNĐ2.8 trillion, exceeding 72% of its plan and up 8.3% year on year, respectively.
Of this, parent company Vietnam Airlines earned an estimated revenue of VND66.2 trillion, more than 50% of the target, and pre-tax profits of VND1.85 trillion, up by 8% compared to 2016, respectively.
