The national flag carrier said it will operate four weekly flights on the Hanoi-Kuala Lumpur route on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.

In addition to the reactivation of the Hanoi-Kuala Lumpur route, the airline operates 11 weekly flights on the Ho Chi Minh City - Kuala Lumpur route, which is the first scheduled international service to be reopened in February 2022. It also resumed direct flights between the central city of Danang and Kuala Lumpur, starting last September.

Passengers traveling to Malaysia do not need to present proof of a negative Covid-19 test, according to the flag carrier.

Vietnam Airlines has restored most of its international services so far, with a total of more than 600 flights per week, equivalent to 70% of the pre-pandemic levels.

Earlier, Vietnam Airlines planned to resume five more routes to China in March and April this year. Specifically, from March, the carrier will resume flights between Hanoi and Beijing with a frequency of three flights a week.

At the same time, it will increase flights connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with China’s Guangzhou and Shanghai to four per week from one or two currently.

Starting in April, routes between Danang and Guangzhou, Shanghai – Chengdu, and Hanoi – Chengdu will resume, with two weekly flights each.

At Vietnam Airlines' 2022 annual general meeting of shareholders held last June, the carrier laid out a plan to restore the entire international flight network to the level of 2019 by the end of 2023.
