With its astonishing mix of natural highlights and cultural diversity, Vietnam has become a favorite destination of many digital nomads globally.
The Canada-based renowned website for travelers has just voted Vietnam among the top “Ten of Best Countries for Digital Nomads”.

According to Cynthia Levy, the staff writer of TheTravel.com, digital nomads are people who work as they travel. These people work online, hence, they can live in different countries as long as they have access to electricity, the internet, and other amenities.
“Being a digital nomad is interesting as one can accomplish their travel needs and at the same time earn a living,” she wrote.
There are numerous criteria for a country to become an ideal destination for digital nomads, including peace, cost of living, people, technology, living conditions, entertainment, and other crucial things for the life of a digital nomad, TheTravel.com suggested.
Among the list of the travel website, Vietnam ranked 8th among the 10 best countries for digital nomads.
“Although Vietnam is not a developed country, it still provides an excellent environment for digital nomads. The country is peaceful and very welcoming for foreigners, it has a low crime rate, good weather, and easy to balance work life and fun. Vietnam is also a country that has so many untouched natural features making it very attractive and calm,” Cynthia wrote.
In addition, according to her, the country is fast-growing, with good infrastructure coming up. It also has a very affordable lifestyle, making it ideal for a digital nomad.
“Food and adventure are some things a digital nomad will enjoy in this country. It is estimated that one can live in a one-bedroom apartment in the city and take care of food for just $420 monthly,” she added.

An ideal country for any digital nomads
Previously, in 2021, Abrotherabroad.com, a popular blog for digital nomads worldwide also chose Vietnam as one of the top countries loved by digital nomads globally.
With the advantage of owning a long coastline, up to 3,200 kilometers with countless bays, peninsulas, and beautiful and pristine beaches, along with a warm year-round tropical climate and low cost of living, Vietnam deserves to be digital nomads’ favorite destination.
Some popular island and coastal cities that are ideal for a “modern nomadic lifestyle” include the Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Vung Tau, Danang, or the ancient town of Hoi An in central Vietnam.
Hoi An ancient town is one among the perfect destination for the people who love to work on the go. The ancient fishing village turned into a tourist hot spot in the coastal area in Vietnam some centuries ago.
The charming tiny city is sometimes called the “Venice of Vietnam” because of the narrow canals that cut through part of the town. In 1999, Hoi An ancient town was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage.

“Hoi An is a gorgeous city in Vietnam and arguably one of the best street food scenes on the planet where there are a lot of cheap-eat restaurants, bars, and café available,” Elizabeth Hoppe, a Canadian expat told The Hanoi Times.
The cost of living in the town is also very suitable. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the town was named among the world’s 10 stunning holiday ideas for 2019 by Worldwide Holiday Costs Barometer.
Hoi An costs tourists around US$1 for a cup of coffee, $2 for a bottle of local beer, and $0.3 for a bottle of mineral water. A delicious three-course evening meal for two on the weekend, including a bottle of house wine, cost no more than $30.
Besides Vietnam, other countries in the list of TheTravel.com are Thailand (ranked 10th), Indonesia (9th), Mexico (7th), Iceland (6th), Sri Lanka (5th), Estonia (4th), Germany (3rd), Colombia (2nd) and Serbia (1st).
