Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung joined delegates from 187 countries at the opening ceremony of the 54th session of the General Assembly of Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in Geneva on September 22.

In his keynote speech, WIPO General Director Francis Gurry emphasised that mastering the world intellectual property system is a top priority to WIPO, especially the Patent Cooperation Treaty, Madrid - International Trademark System and Hague – International Design System.

He highlighted the leading IP governing body’s success in creating new foundations for international cooperation and stressed the need to approve international treaties in order to turn commitments into reality.

Tran Van Tung is scheduled to deliver a speech at the week-long event and meet with Gurry to show Vietnam’s stance of supporting and building the world intellectual property system in the future.
