Vietnam – China traditional stage art exchange

The event aims to foster the connectivity of theater artists of Vietnam and China.

A traditional stage art exchange between Vietnam and China kick-started on December 11 in Hanoi as part of an international seminar themed “Traditional Art of Vietnam and China: Inheritance and development”.
The event is organized by the Vietnam Stage Artists Association in coordination with Chinese Embassy in Vietnam.

The event aims to foster the connectivity of theater artists of Vietnam and China, said People’s Artist Le Tien Tho, chairman of the association. It is also a chance for Vietnamese and Chinese artists to exchange ideas on how to develop the traditional art in a modern context, he added.
Remarks by seventeen Vietnamese and Chinese participants at the seminar proposed ways to promote the traditional art, as well as optimizing the role of theatrical activities in deepening mutual understanding among artists of the two countries.
They also made an overall assessment of the situation of stage art in the recent years and discussed support policies for artists, the training of young artists and measures to popularize the art amidst the process of international integration.
On this occasion, an exhibition on China’s renowned Beijing opera master Mei Lanfang was also opened. The event runs between December 11 to 14.
In 2017, art troupes from Vietnam and China held a stage exchange program featuring their traditional dramas. The program was organized by the Vietnam National Drama Theater in coordination with the Vietnam National Tuong (classical drama) Theater and several art troupes from China.
During the program, Hanoi’s audiences have a chance to entertain with traditional puppet and classical drama performances by artists from both countries at Kim Ma Theater.
