Vietnam confirms the efforts to protect and promote human rights

On June 10, during the dialogue session in the framework of the opening of 26th UN Human Rights Council in Geneva (Switzerland), Ambassador Pham Quoc Tru – Vietnam’s Deputy Chief of Mission at the United Nations had an important speech.

Mr. Tru emphasized that Vietnam shared the concern of many countries for more and more manifest abuse of freedom for assembly and association to cause and undermine national security, social order, public safety in countries, as well as affecting the rights and interests of others.

Vietnam agrees to secure people’s freedom of speech, but in the course of implementation, people should pay due attention to history, culture and religion in each society; Vietnam will continue the efforts to protect and promote human rights in general, as well as freedom of expression and association in particular.
