The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang disclosed in response to a reporter’s question about the investigation into the June terrorist attack in Dak Lak, involving a US-based organization.

Hang emphasized that the investigation into the June 11 terrorist attack in Dak Lak was conducted by Vietnamese law.

“During the investigation, Vietnamese and US authorities have consistently exchanged information on organizations and individuals involved, in compliance with Vietnamese and international laws,” said Hang.

According to the spokesperson, in discussions with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, the US has reaffirmed its zero tolerance for any organization or individual involved in the incident.

They pledged to support Vietnam's law enforcement efforts to thoroughly investigate the case, aiming to prevent similar incidents that could affect the bilateral relationship between the two countries, she said.

"We believe that all nations, including Vietnam, and peace-loving people around the world, are resolutely opposed to terrorism in all its forms. We are committed to coordinating and rigorously addressing terrorist acts by international law," emphasized Hang.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson also categorically rejected any notion of racial discrimination in the incident. "All ethnic groups living on the territory of Vietnam are equal. The Vietnamese government has always prioritized the well-being of ethnic minority communities, particularly in terms of economic development and improving people's lives," stated Hang.

On January 20, Dak Lak People's Court of First Instance sentenced 100 defendants on charges including terrorism against the People's Government, organizing terrorism, facilitating illegal emigration, illegal entry, and concealing criminal activities in Cư Kuin District (Dak Lak Province).

According to the indictment, the "Support Group for Montagnards Inc." (MSGI) in the US and "Montagnards Stand for Justice" (MSFJ) in Thailand taking advantage of the lack of understanding among certain ethnic minority groups in Dak Lak Province, systematically made contacts, induced, and recruited members of ethnic minority groups in Dak Lak and neighboring areas to establish the terrorist organization "Degar Soldiers." This group carried out attacks and acts of terrorism, affecting the security situation in Dak Lak Province.
