Vietnam, Cuba boosts multifaceted cooperation relationship

The 33rd meeting of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-governmental Committee closed in Hanoi on November 19 with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Earlier, on November 18, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung met and worked with Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz, the Co-chairman of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter -governmental Committee.

At the three-day event, the Vietnam and Cuba reviewed the implementation of agreements reached at the 32rd meeting last year and worked out solutions to existing problems. 
The two sided also determined feasible scopes of cooperation for the next year on the basis of their respective potential and demand and priorities set in the mid-term bilateral economic agenda in the 2015- 2020 period. 
Minister of Construction Trinh Dinh Dung, who is the Co-chairman of the inter-governmental committee, said the newly-signed MoU plays as a legal foundation for the two sides to strenghthen links for effective implementation of joint activities, programmes and projects. 
The new agreements expanded in both scope and scale in fields of trade, agriculture, biotechnology and health care, investment and banking will contribute to actively promote trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, in accordance with the two Parties, Governments' policies and the Peoples' aspiration, the minister added.
Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz, the Co-chairman of the committee, said the countries have coordinated mid- and long-term cooperation programmes in various fields. The MoU signing illustrates their resolve to consolidate their multifaceted cooperation.
