The Hanoi Times - A reputed market research company, Gartner, has announced a list of 30 favorite destinations for offshoring. Vietnam is chosen for low costs.

According to Gartner, many new rivals are challenging the positions of Bric (Brazil, Russia, India and China) in the offshoring market. Offshoring is a type of outsourcing. Offshoring simply means having outsourced business functions done in another country. In the IT field, offshore is often software processing or developing contracts.

Communications between partners is often conducted through high-speed data connection, which allows engineers and managers contact in real-time. Clients can provide distance supervision on an up-to-the-minute basis.

India still takes the lead in this list, followed by China. Mexico, Poland and Vietnam are narrowing their gaps to the top positions.

Ian Marriott, Vice Chairman in charge of research at Gartner, said these countries are taking advantage of the financial crisis to attract clients who aspire to cut costs.

Four countries were dropped from the list, including North Ireland, Sri Lanka, Turkey and Uruguay, and the newcomers are Egypt, Thailand, Morocco and Panama.

Gartner made the list based on the following standards: language, government’s assistance, human resources, infrastructure, education system, cost, economic and politic environment, culture, laws, intellectual property protection, data, and privacy.

Ten countries from the Asia and the Pacific region are named in the list, including developing nations like Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
