Vietnam institute for international studies makes debut

The Vietnam Institute for International and Public Diplomacy Studies made its debut in Hanoi on July 18.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisation (VUFO) Vu Xuan Hong highlighted that in the current international integration, people-to-people diplomacy should be stepped up to meet the country’s development requirements.

The institute is to enhance the study of international issues and public diplomacy serving the activities of the VUFO and improve the capacity of those in charge of foreign relations and people-to-people diplomacy. 
Director of the institute Phan Anh Son said the institute is responsible for studying international issues which are relevant to public diplomacy in Vietnam, foreign policies and training human resources in the field while promoting information for external relations and international cooperation.
It will be a leading body in researching, training and policy consultancy in people-to-people diplomacy and related issues, he said, adding that it strives to become a national-level research institute by 2020 and a regional-level one five years later.
