Vietnam localities need 'specialties' to lure tourists

The tourism authorities have prepared to launch another stimulus program, with priority given to ensuring the safety of tourists.

In addition to ensuring the safety of tourists, Vietnamese companies and localities should diversify tourism products incorporating local specialties when launching promotions and stimulus programs, according to tourism experts.

For the tourism industry to thrive in the new situation, localities must have their own way of exploiting potential and characteristics, thereby creating a difference in product design to attract customers, Deputy Director in charge of the Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Trung Hieu told Kinh te & Do thi.

"From now until the end of the year, Hanoi will promote the development of heritage tourism, and night-life products," Hieu said. "In particular, on the 10th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi, the tourism industry will promote the capital in the direction of highlighting the position of Hanoi as an attractive and safe destination."

Agreeing with the stimulus program of Hanoi in phase 2, Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association Dinh Manh Thang suggested that from now to the end of the year is the "golden season" of the city’s tourism, tour operators should exploit the beauty of the capital in autumn and winter as well as the potential of cultural and historical heritage.

In particular, managers of destinations in Hanoi such as the Hoa Lo Prison Relic, the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the National History Museum must build specific products to create a highlight for Hanoi's tourism. A tour to explore Hoa Lo prison at night has attracted more visitors.

Since the beginning of September, Hanoitourist Travel Company has cooperated with various 4- to 5-star hotels to create packages that include high-end hotel stays combined with sightseeing tours to explore Hanoi's autumn season. A tour to explore the mysterious basement of the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel to experience the architecture and cuisine of the capital is expected to attract visitors.

Besides, Flamingo Redtours Travel Company and a number of travel companies have launched resort products in the suburbs of Hanoi as well as cooperated with the Northern mountainous provinces to offer tours to explore the ripening rice season at terraced fields in Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai), Hoang Su Phi, Xin Man (Ha Giang), and Simacai (Lao Cai).
