Vietnam needs to invest in national artificial intelligence strategy

Artificial intelligence development will be an opportunity for Vietnam to promote the application of new technologies, and complete the cause of industrialization and modernization in the country.

Vietnam needs to elaborately invest in national artificial intelligence strategy in a suitable way, said Bui The Duy, deputy minister of Science and Technology at the recently-concluded Economic Forum 2019.

The event was organized by the Central Economic Committee in collaboration with relevant units, with the theme of "Orientation for artificial intelligence development in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 - Opportunities and challenges for Vietnam".

Duy said that for the domestic artificial intelligence market, the Vietnamese government needs to be a strategic investor in the nation's core artificial intelligence components.

In this strategy, policies should be identifed and developed to motivate and enhance Vietnam’s scale and market of artificial intelligence according to expectations, Duy stressed.

Besides, experts and managers have exchanged and refined the intellectual essences and experiences of national and international experts as well as the business community to supplement and complete the the Vietnamese government’s policies to actively participate in the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

The workshop also focused on evaluating the development trend and impact of artificial intelligence on the world’s economy and economic sectors.

Experts said that artificial intelligence was used 50 years ago and has been improved by the scientists, programmed in an open way to increase creativity, robots have begun to be taught self-study ability.

Artificial intelligence affects all fields of social life, including transportation, health, security, defense, banking, fashion, food, music, among others. Artificial intelligence development will be opportunities for Vietnam to promote the application of new technologies, complete the cause of industrialization and modernization in the country.

Leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology and experts also talked about issues in the process of applying artificial intelligence in production and business to address the relationship between workers and robots, robots in the implementation of production processes.
