Commercial banks urged to join credit programs for forestry and fishery
The State Bank of Vietnam has issued guidelines for commercial banks to implement credit programs for forestry and fishery enterprises with a total investment of VND15 trillion (US$634.4 million). The loan interest rate will be reduced by 1-2% per year. The program will run until June 30, 2024. There are 12 commercial banks registered to participate in the program.
At a meeting in early July, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh urged the rollout of a VND10 trillion (US$421 million) credit package for timber and seafood enterprises to address challenges faced by businesses.
Vietnam to spend $1.7 billion for inland port system

Vietnam's Ministry of Transport has estimated a total investment of over VND40 trillion (nearly $1.7 billion) to develop 101 inland ports in 19 transport corridors in the North, Central and South regions by 2030, with a vision to 2050.
The proposal has been submitted to the Prime Minister for approval. It aims to meet 25-35% of the import and export container transportation demand along the transportation corridors. The project is set to reach a total capacity of about 11.9-17.1 million TEUs per year.
Vietnam Airlines hosts World Safety and Operations Conference
Vietnam Airlines, the national carrier of Vietnam, will host the IATA World Safety and Operations Conference in Hanoi from September 19-21, bringing together more than 800 airline representatives and international aviation organizations worldwide.
This year's conference, themed "Leadership in Action: Driving Safer and More Efficient Operations," will be the International Air Transport Association (IATA)'s first comprehensive event dedicated to global aviation safety. The event will provide an opportunity for aviation leaders and regulators to propose safety and infrastructure measures to ensure safer operations throughout the industry.
InnoEx 2023 to attract over 1,000 tech business leaders
InnoEx 2023, themed "Innovation & Green Economy", will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on August 24-25, attracting more than 1,000 tech business leaders from 33 countries and territories. The event is expected to witness the signing of cooperation agreements between InnoEx and Vietnam CEO Forum. InnoEx is an annual international event to promote innovation and development for the Vietnamese and Southeast Asian business community.
Danang continues covering tuition fees for students

The central city of Danang will continue to waive tuition fees for all public school students for the 2023-2024 school year. The seaside city will allocate more than VND408 billion ($17.2 million) for the program, including VND316 billion ($13.3 million) for public schools and VND92 billion ($3.9 million) for non-public schools. This is the third consecutive year that the city has implemented this policy.
