Dubai to open trade office in Ho Chi Minh City
Dubai plans to open its trade office in Ho Chi Minh City to promote bilateral trade and investment in Vietnam, as UAE is Vietnam's one of the 10 biggest export markets.
The trade office will encourage Dubai's major companies to come to Vietnam. Dubai Chambers will send a business delegation to Vietnam this July to seek investment and trade opportunities. As of May 31, 2023, there are 170 Vietnamese firms doing business with support from the Dubai Chambers.

After eight years of construction, the final segments of seven wharves at Long An International Port were cast on June 24. The port inaugurated its container cargo service, marking an important milestone in its strategic vision to become an internationally recognized port in Asia.
The 1,935-hectare project in Can Giuoc District, southern Long An Province, includes a 396-hectare industrial park, a 239-hectare service-industrial zone, a 1,145-hectare urban area, and a 147-hectare seaport. With a total investment of over US$500 million, the port will be expanded to include ten container ports. At the opening ceremony, Dongtam Group, Mitsubishi Corporation (Japan), and GreenBank signed a memorandum of understanding to provide strategic consulting and service development for the port.
Social housing in Ho Chi Minh City reaches 1.31% of target
The development of social housing in Ho Chi Minh City has reached 1.31% of the target set for 2021-2030, according to the city People's Committee. From 2021 to June 2023, the city's floor area of social housing reached 32,668 square meters, while the total newly built area reached 15.33 million square meters, equivalent to 30.6% of the set target.
By 2025, the city aims to achieve an average floor area of 23.5 square meters per person and a total residential area increase of 50 million square meters. With the current challenging economic situation, it's hard for the city government to predict the results of housing development in the coming period.
Ha Tinh documents named a world documentary heritage
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has recognized the collection of handwritten documents in Truong Luu Village in the central province of Ha Tinh's Can Loc District as a documentary heritage of the UNESCO Memory of the World Program for Asia and the Pacific.
The collection of 48 items, written in Chinese and Nom (ancient Vietnamese alphabet based on sinogram) script from 1689 to 1943, belongs to three families in Truong Luu Village. Professor Nguyen Huy My, who led the collection team, worked with Ha Tinh Province to submit the dossier to UNESCO's Memory of the World Regional Committee for Asia and the Pacific.
The province boasts many cultural tangible and intangible heritages recognized by UNESCO, such as Ca Tru (ceremonial singing) and the Nghe Tinh’s Vi-Giam folk songs, the Phuc Giang School's wooden blocks, and the Hoang Hoa su trinh do (the Envoy’s Journey to China).
Vietnam wins 2023 Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship

Vietnam won the 2023 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship (AVC) after defeating Indonesia 3-2 in the final match on June 25. This is the Vietnamese team's first win the AVC Challenge Cup, a third-tier tournament for national women's teams in Asia. As a result of their victory, Vietnam will represent Asia at the 2023 FIVB Challenger Cup in France. This follows their victory in May 2023, where they were crowned champions of the 2023 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship, allowing them to represent Asia at the 2023 World Women's Club Volleyball Championship in China.
USS Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group Visits Vietnam
The USS Ronald Reagan carrier strike group made a historic visit to Vietnam on June 25 in the central coast city of Danang, marking the third time a US aircraft carrier has visited the country since 2018. The visit comes as the US and Vietnam celebrate the 10th anniversary of their comprehensive partnership, underscoring their shared commitment to a prosperous and secure future.
This was also the USS Ronald Reagan's first visit to Vietnam since the normalization of diplomatic relations in 1995. The carrier strike group is deployed to the US 7th Fleet area of operations to support a free and open Indo-Pacific region, interacting and operating with allies and partners worldwide.
