Photo exhibition honors memory of General Vo Nguyen Giap

A photo exhibition depicting the life and career of the late General Vo Nguyen Giap is underway at the UNESCO-recognized Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi. The exhibition, which ends on October 19, features 30 large-format photographs of General Giap, one of the greatest military strategists in Vietnam's history, who dedicated his entire life to national liberation and independence.

The exhibition aims to honor the late general, known as the "big brother" of the Vietnamese army, on the 10th anniversary of his passing away (October 4, 2013 - October 4, 2023).

Vietnam seeks to strengthen ties with Canada: Ambassador

Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada Pham Vinh Quang presented his credentials to Mary Jeannie May Simon, Governor General of Canada, on October 13 (local time). At the meeting, Quang said the Vietnamese government and people hope to strengthen ties with Canada and promote the comprehensive partnership between the two nations established in 2017.

Vietnam is one of Canada's largest trading partners in ASEAN and the North American country's sixth-largest trading partner in the Asia-Pacific region.

Government regulates implementation of e-commerce law

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang signed a decision on October 13 to implement the Law on Digital Trade and Business. The law was approved by the National Assembly in late June and will take effect on July 1, 2024.

The decision makes ministries, their subordinate agencies, and ministerial-level agencies responsible for ensuring the law's effective implementation. The Ministry of Information and Communications will lead the review of the new law and related regulations. The review will be completed by August 2024.

Vietnam tops pepper supplier to South Korea

Vietnam was the largest supplier of pepper to South Korea in January-August 2023, according to the country's International Trade Committee. During the period, South Korea imported a total of 3,260 tons of pepper, valued at US$15.6 million. The figures were down 45.5% in volume and nearly 46% in value from the previous year.

The top suppliers were followed by Malaysia, Cambodia, and India.

Vietnamese smart mobility firm to operate in Laos

Vietnamese ride-hailing company Green Smart Mobility (GSM) will start operations in Laos this year with a fleet of up to 1,000 vehicles, the company announced on October 13. GSM will deploy 150 cars in the initial phase and increase the number to 1,000 later this year.

GSM, part of the Vingroup conglomerate, debuted in Vietnam on April 14, 2023, with 95% of the shares held by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong. The company aims to provide green and smart transportation for the domestic market and help the nation achieve sustainable development in the near future.

TH Group opens new dairy farm in Moscow

Dairy producer TH Group inaugurated a cattle farm with a maximum capacity of 12,000 cows in Moscow's Volokolamsky district on October 13. The farm, now in its first phase, will breed about 6,000 cows and is part of TH Group's high-tech dairy production project in Russia. When completed, the farm will produce a total of 131 million liters of milk per year.

According to Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, TH Group's new cattle farm is the highlight of economic relations between Vietnam and Russia. He expects the Russian government to ease conditions and remove bottlenecks for further development of Vietnamese enterprises.
